For the health and well being of our retail associates and shoppers, our stores are now closed. We hope to reopen as soon as possible. Effective Friday, 4/3/20, and until further notice, all Goodwill of Greater Washington donation center hours of operation will change to 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily. We apologize for any inconvenience. These measures, although difficult, will ensure the health and safety of our team members, shoppers, donors and greater Washington community.
Each associate who is furloughed will be compensated for two weeks upon closure. They can then utilize any remaining PTO. The decision to close, however, does not come lightly as our stores provide the majority of funding for our mission services, while also providing the income to pay the associates who support those services.
To maintain social distancing at our Donation Centers during this period, we invite you to place items in the bins located directly outside of our donation doors. These donations will be periodically collected by our Associates.
Our online store, shop.dcgoodwill.org will remain open and will be continuously updated with finds that we hope will be a source of joy and savings during this uncertain time. The best outcome from supporting us via our online shop is that every purchase continues to help us fund our life-changing programs.
We are also working to ensure that our mission services can continue to serve DC, Maryland and Virginia residents. When we close our stores, we lose a great deal of revenue that directly supports our programs. If you are able, we ask that you make a donation in any amount to help us – so that we can continue to provide employment and job training to thousands in the DC area. With your efforts, we can guarantee that our community stays strong, especially in times like this, when it is needed the most.
We will share updates with our community as often as we can. Stay informed by following us on Facebook, Instagram and on dcgoodwill.org. Thank you for understanding and supporting Goodwill of Greater Washington as we navigate these uncharted waters.
