2019 promises to be busy at Goodwill of Greater Washington!
We have several major initiatives in the works and wanted to share some of them with you as the New Year approaches.
From a mission standpoint, we will be finishing year three at The Goodwill Excel Center in July, graduating our fifth class! We will also be opening our new career center in Prince George’s County, MD with a focus on healthcare, and energy & utilities training.
On the retail side, we just opened our 20th retail store, located in Prince William County, VA. This comes on the heels of the two stores we opened in Prince George’s County, MD and one in Centreville, VA over the past few years. We are always on the lookout for new locations.
Goodwill of Greater Washington has again updated its unique mobile app adding a new push notification feature that allows our Goodwill (and any others who license the technology) to communicate directly with 50,000+ app users. The mobile donation management tool that gives donors the ability to create and manage his/her own portfolio of IRS compliant donation receipts is also proving to be very effective and a new source of convenience for Goodwill donors. Say goodbye to all those small paper receipts that are so easy to misplace!
Our ecommerce operations also continue to grow with the integration of new technology and the possibility of a new warehouse on the horizon.
We will be moving into a new main office in late 2019 and the staff cannot wait. The building we’ve been in since 1982 is antiquated and lacks sufficient access to public transportation for both our employees and students.
