The Fashion of Goodwill Runway Show Goes Global and Partners
with International Fashion Designer Tu-Anh!
Washington, DC – The Annual Fashion of Goodwill Runway Show & Gala is going global via the world wide web!
For three years, Goodwill of Greater Washington has hosted one of the most unique fashion shows in the nation’s capital showcasing the vintage and contemporary fashions available at Goodwill Retail Stores. This year, The Fashion of Goodwill Virtual Runway Show and Online Auction will be broadcast across the globe on the non-profit agency’s website, www.dcgoodwill.org, on Friday, September 28th. A podcast of the fashion show will also be made available to visitors in addition to a posting on YouTube.com®.
In conjunction with this unique virtual fashion show, Goodwill has partnered with international fashion designer, Tu-Anh, who will be coordinating and choreographing the fashion show using donated items pulled directly from the racks at Goodwill Retail Stores.
Based in Arlington, VA, Tu-Anh is an internationally respected fashion designer and image consultant who will be incorporating her own personal touches into the Goodwill fashions.
“We are thrilled that a fashion design expert as well respected as Tu-Anh has agreed to lend her expertise and creative flair to enhance Goodwill’s fashion show”, said Brendan Hurley, Goodwill Vice President of Marketing. “Under her direction, we believe this virtual fashion show will play a huge part in changing the perception of Goodwill Stores by fashion conscious shoppers ultimately leading to more revenue to fund our job training programs.”
On September 12th, to coincide with the launch of Fashion Week in New York City, the Goodwill of Greater Washington website will feature a Look Book of the outfits featured in the runway show along with a large selection of silent auction items including fashions, accessories and unique collectibles donated to Goodwill. The online auction will culminate with the runway show on September 28th, followed by final bidding on the fashions.
As an authority on quality but inexpensive fashions, Goodwill of Greater Washington is also launching a fashion blog, www.dcgoodwillfashions.blogspot.com, that will share detailed knowledge and insight on vintage and contemporary clothing and accessories that are valuable to fashion shoppers. The blog will launch on July 2nd.
Goodwill of Greater Washington’s mission is to educate, train, employ and place people with disadvantages and disabilities, creating a stronger workforce and a more vital community while building dignity for the people we serve through the removal of barriers to personal success.
