James Biscoe desperately needed a second chance. Through some poor decisions early in life, James ended up in prison. While there, he thought about his life and the direction he was headed. He knew that eventually he needed to turn his life around and to take responsibility for his future.
In the healing process that followed his prison term, James discovered Goodwill of Greater Washington. He quickly enrolled in our pre-apprenticeship construction training program, and he excelled!
After eight weeks of classroom instruction, James graduated, and the very same day he was offered a job at a major construction firm here in the greater Washington area.
In many ways, James has come full circle. Born and raised right here in Washington , he has now returned to the same community as a changed man. He is now rebuilding that community with a solid job that is empowering him to make it on his own, and he has hope for his future for the first time.
Goodwill is making a significant contribution to our local economy and community by empowering people to earn their own way in life!
