Goodwill of Greater Washington is a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law unless you receive some consideration in exchange for your gift. All donations are strictly confidential. By making a donation via cash, credit card or check, you will make an immediate impact on someone's life.
If you believe the value of your donation is over $5,000, and if you plan to claim a charitable tax deduction for your donation, you may need to have Goodwill complete certain tax forms to be able to claim a charitable deduction. Before making a donation of that value, please call Goodwill at (202) 636-4225 and ask to speak to Goodwill’s Director of Development.

In an effort to accommodate our high volume of service requests, we now offer two home pickup options to choose from:

Thank you for donating to Goodwill and making a difference in someone's life.
Due to the high volume of requests for this FREE service we require a minimum of 8 pieces of furniture and/or bags or boxes of clean clothing in good condition. Additionally, we are unable to accept used mattresses, box springs and sleeper sofas by law. Since this service is free there could be a substantial backlog of requests and your pickup may have to be scheduled for up to 2 months out.
Goodwill will provide you with 48 Hour Priority Pickup through a new partnership with a local hauling service. This priority service charges a fee but includes additional benefits such as the removal of items from anywhere inside your property, as well as the removal of junk and items Goodwill cannot accept. Donors will receive a discount off the regular pricing of our hauling partner. Your donation is still tax-deductible when using our 48hour priority service.
For over 100 years, Goodwill® has been a pioneer of the “reduce, reuse, repurpose” practice.
When you donate clothing and other items like books or electronics to Goodwill, your donations are sold in Goodwill stores, giving them a “second life” and keeping them out of landfills. Plus, the money from the sale of your donated items helps Goodwill provide job training, job placement, and other opportunities for people and families in your community.
