On Tuesday December 3, Goodwill of Greater Washington will be part of a call to action that will change your holiday calendar and help make history. We are celebrating a day dedicated to giving—when charities, families, businesses, communities, and people like YOU all come together for #GivingTuesday to celebrate generosity and encourage impactful giving during the holiday season.
Our goal is to raise $2,500 on December 3rd. This will equate to 100 hours of free job training for individuals with disabilities and disadvantages in the Washington, DC region.
On Monday November 11, Goodwill of Greater Washington, along with the help of volunteers from Accenture, will be hosting a Free Family Budgeting & Professional LinkedIn Seminar from 1:30pm – 3:30pm at our Arlington Career Center.
The event is for individuals who are interested in easy budgeting and financial tools to aid in household financial management and increasing employment opportunities through the use of a LinkedIn profile. The seminar will be open to our shoppers, students, Goodwill associates, and the greater Arlington community.
We are very excited to offer this opportunity and hope it will be the first of many community events promoting tools for self-sufficiency hosted by Goodwill.
This past weekend Goodwill of Greater Washington participated in The BOSS Group’s Good by Design, Pro Bono Design Day. The 10-hour design-a-thon paired local area non-profits with leading creative professionals in the metro region for a day of design, marketing and interactive work.
The BOSS Group partnered with The Art Institute of Washington to host the event. The Art Institute donated the use of their state of the art equipment and the latest software. Students of The Art Institute of Washington, from various programs, participated in the event to gain experience, mentorship from the professional volunteers and material for their portfolios.
