“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
--Mother Teresa
It is a daunting task to realize that “we belong to each other”…and yet, it is one of our greatest responsibilities! As this year continues, I want to personally thank you for your commitment to the people we serve: both our Goodwill associates and students of our Construction, Banking, Hospitality and Environmental Services training programs. Your support shows us daily that the people of Goodwill of Greater Washington “belong to you”.

Hosea came to Goodwill in 2002 after suffering through years of alcohol and substance abuse. Before coming to Goodwill, he began to believe that he had no future and no hope of improving the quality of his life.

- People with disabilities are roughly three times as likely to live in poverty
- People with disabilities are twice as likely to drop out of high school, and far less likely to complete college
- 35% of people with disabilities say they are not at all involved with their communities or local organizations
- 31% of people with disabilities cite insufficient access to transportation as a problem
- People with disabilities are more than twice as likely to delay needed health care because they cannot afford it
