DIANE KERN, PH.D.

Dr. Diane Kern is a licensed psychologist in the District of Columbia and in the state of Maryland . Her educational background consists of an undergraduate degree in psychology from Boston University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Catholic University of America. She possesses a wealth of clinical training and array of professional experience.

As a therapist, her intervention skills and knowledge of human behavior have enabled her to provide lively and informative educational forums, presentations and interactive workshops to various groups. In particular, she has a keen interest in addressing mental health issues in the workplace. Issues around coping with change and managing crises and critical incidents are the major focus of her interventions. Her emphasis is on empowering others with the information and tools to make positive growth and change.

Her workplace consulting experiences have included conducting workshops and trainings for a variety of audiences. Such groups have consisted of employees, who were members of a major teacher's union, teachers and administrators of schools, the staff and consumers of nonprofit and social service agencies, day-care center staff, employees at Federal Government Defense Department agencies, and members of the legal profession. Topics addressed in Dr. Kern's training have spanned a broad range of issues, including: stress management, improving interpersonal relationships, adjusting to downsizing and restructuring, and self-esteem building. Special interventions have been provided to individuals and groups at various worksites in change management and crisis intervention.
