Brendan Hurley
Vice President, Marketing and Communications

Prior to Goodwill Industries, Brendan was the Director of Marketing for Clear Channel Radio in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for managing the corporate brand as well as the marketing department for two of the company's largest radio stations, WBIG FM and WASH FM. During his tenure he was responsible for brand management, communications, strategic marketing & advertising, as well as many of the company's largest and most successful special events including the Expo for the Cure, for which he won an Achievement in Radio (A.I.R.) Award in 2002. The same year he was also a recipient of the Clear Channel - Washington Employee of the Year Award. Since arriving at Goodwill of Greater Washington in October of 2003, Brendan has successfully placed the organization into more than 100 positive news stories, both locally and nationally, and managed the launch of the first successful social media campaign in the history of Goodwill Industries. In November 2005, he was recognized by the Greater Washington Board of Trade for his contributions to the local business community and in January of 2006 Brendan was profiled in PR Week Magazine as one of four non-profit marketing executives in the United States who are successful at “doing more with less”. Before entering the radio industry, he served as the Associate Director of Communications for the March of Dimes in 1996 and 1997 at their national headquarters in White Plains, N.Y.

Brendan has served on numerous boards and committees throughout his career assisting other worthy organizations such as the American Red Cross, March of Dimes, Washington Hospital Center and Smithsonian Associates. He has also given presentations on marketing, communications and branding at several colleges including American University and Bowie State University in addition to professional organizations such as the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the American Marketing Association, Direct Marketing Association and the International Association of Business Communicators. He has even served as a judge for both the Emmy Awards and the media industry's Gold Medallion Awards. Brendan is presently the steering committee co-chairman for the Greater Washington Board of Trade's Marketing & Communications Executive Network, sits on the Emergency Preparedness Task Force, and is a founding member of the Non-Profit Roundtable's Communications Committee.

Currently a resident of northern Virginia with his wife Atsuko, Brendan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from James Madison University and a Master of Science in Marketing from Johns Hopkins University.
